The Denver Broncos were hoping to see Bryce Callahan back on the practice field this week, but even before practice began Head Coach Vic Fangio was doubtful he would participate on Wednesday. Fangio kept his answers on Callahan short and to the point.
On how CB Bryce Callahan moved around in practice yesterday
“Just OK, not great.”
On if Callahan will be limited the rest of the week
“Yeah, he may not even practice today and then try again tomorrow.”
On if the team is approaching a decision with Callahan in terms of injured reserve
On if there is a specific date when he wants to be decided whether Callahan will go on injured reserve
“No, not a date. Just whatever the facts present.”
Given the long road Callahan has taken to get here, it would be wise at this point to put him on injured reserve. If the foot is still not right enough to move well enough to practice in Week 11, then it doesn’t seem like it will be at all before the season is over.
The good news is the Broncos will get Tim Patrick back this week and the team has no other players that are looking like they might not be available on Sunday.
The same cannot be said of the Minnesota Vikings who have a very long laundry list of injuries after their hard fought victory over the Dallas Cowboys last week. Any advantage there the Broncos will need if they hope to come out of Minnesota with a win next week.
