Chargers vs. Broncos betting odds as Denver slight underdogs at home

The Denver Broncos are a team no one can trust. They are now slight home underdogs to AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers.

The Denver Broncos opened a slight half point underdog at home to the Los Angeles Chargers, but that line shifted rapidly to 2.5 points by Monday night with an over/under set at 38. This could all change again if Denver decided to make a quarterback change to rookie Drew Lock.

The local media, spearheaded by Mike Klis of 9News, proudly asked 16 Drew Lock questions on Monday and only one about Von Miller’s MRI on his knee. We still don’t have much information on that other than the team is being extremely cautious with it and we may not see Miller practicing much this week.

Head Coach Vic Fangio is refusing to make a final decision on Lock’s roster status until at least Wednesday.

“It’s possible, yeah,” Fangio said on activating Lock. “We don’t have to make a declaration on him until next Tuesday, I believe. As far as this week goes, all options are on the table. We could activate him. We’re just going to make that decision here in the next few days.”

The biggest concern for Fangio isn’t Lock’s health, but his mental preparation with the lack of practice time he’s had all season.

“Just practice time,” Fangio said. “The guy hadn’t—from whenever it was in August when he went out, he was on the shelf for 10 weeks. Just all that lost time and preparation.”

More than likely there is pressure coming from inside the building to get Lock game reps before the seasons over as the team looks ahead to the offseason and the 2020 NFL Draft.

If Lock does end up starting, this is the perfect week to do it as the Chargers defense is not very strong against the pass. Oddshark has Denver winning this game by a point in their simulations, so that is at least one positive from the underdog status Denver is faced with here.

Kickoff is set for 2:25 p.m. Mile High time on December 1, 2019 at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado. You can get tickets to the Broncos-Chargers game from Stubhub or if you are staying home you can watch the live stream of the game through FuboTV.
