Broncos are surprisingly tough opponent after a Bye Week

Despite multiple 10-loss seasons in recent years, the Denver Broncos win more often than not after their Bye Week.

The good people are Cheat Sheet War Room released a graphic showing how the Denver Broncos have fared after the Bye Week over the last five seasons. For me, it sure looks like a tale of two eras - one great and one not so great.

Cheat Sheet War Room

The first era is the glorious end of the Peyton Manning era and the defense that carried it through 2016. They were 2-1 during that time.

Then there is the Vance Joseph era. That Week 6 beat down at home against the New York Giants is a day that will live in infamy. The Broncos would not win a game between Oct. 1 and Dec. 10 that year. Ironically, that win over the Los Angeles Chargers in 2018 helped stop a streak where Denver lost 6 of 7 games.

The only question now is where the Vic Fangio era will lead. It didn’t start out pretty, but the team has won three of its last five with one of those losses being a nail-biter on the road against a strong Indianapolis Colts team. Denver plays back-to-back road games against the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills, so it won’t be easy. They get a home game against the Chargers after that and then back on the road against two more AFC powerhouses in the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs.

I think their odds of winning one of the two games out of their Bye Week is good, but I’m not sure the Vikings will be the team they do it against. We’ll just have to see how it goes...
