Hella Early and Hella Perfect Mock

We're two games into the Drew Lock era, and he's proven enough to make him the unquestioned starter for at least next year. But the goal should be to build a Super Bowl contender while he's on a rookie deal. The good news is, I think we're so much closer to that goal than most ppl realize. So, let's get to it...

Retaining FAs

I think it's important to keep some continuity among positional units. Even though some of these can be upgraded, they're still very solid at good prices:

Justin Simmons - Obvious 1st priority, All-pro already and will likely be for the foreseeable future.

Chris Harris - He might finally want to get paid like the elite corner he's been, but bringing him back on a 2 year deal would be great.

Shelby Harris - Relatively affordable and a good player on the DLine.

Connor McGovern - Not sure what his market would be, but worth bringing back for continuity on a cheap deal.

DeVaunty Bausby - Good depth at outside corner

New Signings:

Keeping this relatively realistic and trying to predict who will be available. For instance, Chris Jones would be a dream signing, just don't think it'll happen:

Brandon Scherff - Should be a high priority. Instant upgrade at RG, especially with the Leary money coming off the books.

Cory Littleton - I don't know how the Rams can keep anybody as long as Goff is eating up so much money. So if Littleton is made available, I would target him immediately for a long term deal. Young, and provides an immediate pass coverage upgrade at ILB for the broncos. Him and AJ could be a great tandem for a few years.

Leonard Williams - There's a lot to consider here, but given his underwhelming play and the dysfunction of the Giants, I think he's due for a relatively affordable 1 year "prove it" deal. If that's the case, I think he can be great with Von or Chubb next to him on the line.

Draft

I wanted to prioritize high impact players at positions of value and improve the team speed. For example, I see a lot of people giving us Derrick Brown in the 1st. Although it would be nice to have a big body pushing the pocket, I just don't value it as much as the route I went.

11th - Henry Ruggs III - WR - He's so fast that not many ppl see how good of an actual WR he is. Solid routes and really good at the catch point. Our offense desperately needs speed opposite Sutton, and Ruggs can transform this offense into something special the moment he steps on the field.

43rd - Bryce Hall - CB - Incredible prospect in every aspect except he doesn't have elite athleticism. Even so, he just gets the job done. Would be a perfect scheme fit on this defense as well. Can start opposite Chris from Day 1 and won't play like a rookie.

75th - Josh Jones - OT - After it's all said and done, I think he'll find his way into the late 1st or early 2nd round convo. But for now, I'll take advantage. Great size, technique, and athleticism. Small school and the lack of experience against NFL caliber players is the only concern. He just doesn't get beat, like ever. I trust that'll translate. Immediately replaces Bolles at LT.

86th - Hamsah Nasirildeen - S/ILB - Think of him as a poor man's Isaiah Simmons. I really like his raw tools, and he has really good coverage instincts on the 2nd level of the defense. I think he can be groomed into a really good ILB in Fangio's system, but offers immediate coverage help as a Dime Backer.

96th - Calvin Throckmorton - OL - Good technique, and more power than finesse, but he can play any position on the OLine and provides great depth. Not sure about Juwan James' long term health, so he could fill in at RT if necessary.

107th - Jordan Elliot - IDL - Another player I don't think gets anywhere close to this low in the draft, but he's a baller. High end athlete who put it all together this year. If he stayed in school, he could be a 1st round pick next year. Provides a really good rotation at DLine for us from Day 1 and could develop into something special with Kolar.

128th - Benito Jones - NT - Extra large human that can surprise with his explosiveness. 2 down run stuffer and space eater.

162nd - Clyde Edwards-Helaire - RB - 3rd down back specialist that teams love these days. We tried to make this work with Theo Riddick, but now we get younger and cheaper. I love his hands and running instincts in space. Short, but stout and willing to stick his head in there for pass protection. My favorite little guy in the draft.

220th - AJ Green - CB - He stands out every time I see him play. Looks like he can get pushed around a bit, but he has a lot of dog in him. Thin, but fights Wrs at every moment. Good looking speed and incredible when the ball is in the air, consistently getting PBUs and effecting the WR in coverage. I like him a lot to turn into a starter one day.

Let me know what ya'll think...
