Christmas comes early with Lock vs Mahomes

Hopefully the beginning of a legendary rivalry, this game will be must-watch!

I don’t remember the last time I was so excited to watch a single sports game. There have been some big Nugget’s games and the Rockies vs the Cubs in a 2017 play-in game was insane, but for the Broncos it’s been a long time in coming- and should be worth the wait.

It’s no longer, Pat Mahomes vs “Broncos’ journeyman QB” and it finally isn’t just a nearly guaranteed loss. And now, even if Denver loses, we get to see what could be the first game of a future rivalry akin to Peyton Manning and Tom Brady...almost at least.

Drew Lock has looked every bit capable of being the Broncos’ very own Mahomes. He’s hugely talented, he’s winning and he has the “look” of a franchise guy. They both seem to really love the game of football and appear to enjoy every second they spend on the gridiron.

Lock has a lot to prove in order to be truly compared to an MVP but we at least can realistically dream about it.

Even if it’s not likely that Denver wins, this is a game that I would pay a lot of money to see live. Will Lock continue his success and can Rich Scangarello have two brilliant gameplans in a row? Will Fangio let the offense be aggressive for four quarters? Will the Kansas City crowd get to the rookie QB or will he again prove that he has the innards which are vital for an NFL Quarterback? The impact of Phillip Lindsay and if Fant and Sutton can continue to play in beast-mode is just gravy on top of awesome pie.

It’s truly like Christmas has arrived early and I can’t wait to see if this offense is legit or if the last two games were a flash in the pan. My bet is on the former.

Check out the podcast above for much more on our thoughts about Drew Lock, Fangio needing to modernize a bit and the 20 players who the team can build around in 2020 and beyond.

Go Broncos!
