Broncos at Chiefs: tickets, game time, online stream and more

The Denver Broncos will play their “Super Bowl” for 2019 this week on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Denver Broncos (5-8) will play their AFC West rival in the Kansas City Chiefs (9-4). Historically, it is never good for Denver to play in Arrowhead Stadium in December. They are 3-17 all-time in Kansas City during that month.

Excitement is growing in the Mile High City either way as Drew Lock has gotten off to a fantastic start to his NFL career. He’ll face his toughest challenge yet against a crowd he grew up around being from the Kansas City area.

Game Preview

There are really two keys to this game that will determine whether or not its a close one or a blowout loss for Denver. The first is limiting Patrick Mahomes as much as possible. He is a big banged up, but the Chiefs offense can still be as dangerous as ever.

If the Broncos defense can keep the Chiefs under 30 (I know that’s a big number in any game) then the door could be open for Denver to challenge, which leads me to the second key to this game.

Drew Lock has to play well again. He has to do it against a rowdy home crowd in front of over 50 of his family and friends. He’s going to be amped and if things start off poorly for him in this game, I could see him start to press the throws and start making poor decisions. Lock is a rookie, after all, even if hasn’t quite played like one in his first two starts.

If the rails come off early, this will absolutely end up being a blowout. Which is why starting out fast on offense is going to make or break this game for Denver.

Here is how to watch.

Odds

The Broncos are huge underdogs again this week. After opening in the double-digits, the line fell to 9.5-points on the road against the Chiefs this week. It now stands at 10-points, with an over/under is 45. The betting is about evenly spread on the line between both teams, but 70% favor the over on the points.

Matchup History

The Broncos have a long history with the Chiefs, and oddly enough, its mostly a history of streaks between these two clubs. The Broncos won just two games between 1960-1973, then the Chiefs won just two between 1973-1979. That back and forth battle continued all the way up until the 2000s when they traded games more regularly until the arrival of Peyton Manning. After his run, the Chiefs have turned the table and have now won 8-straight games. They will be looking to make it 9-straight this week.

Fan Sentiment

Excitement is through the roof after bottoming out in Week 7 at just 8%. Broncos Country has reason to be excited as their rookie quarterback, Drew Lock, has played two impressive games in his first two starts and has Denver on a winning streak. This 80% confidence mark is the highest since the post-draft euphoria back in April.
