Update: Denver rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat the Lions 27-17 to move to 6-9 on the season.
The Denver Broncos (5-9) are just a game and a half ahead in record over the Detroit Lions (3-10-1), but will be a solid touchdown favorite at home on Sunday. A strong finish for the Broncos, who are 5-5 since starting the season 0-4 would send a strong message of confidence heading into the offseason.
There have been no less than three games decided in the final seconds that Denver lost, so it really has been a game of inches in 2019. And, so far, they have suffered a death by inches in those tight games. Instead of being 8-6 with two games to play against cupcakes, they are 5-9 and really needing a strong finish to regain some confidence for next year.
The Lions, fortunately, are a complete dumpster fire and their owner has secured that dumpster fire at the top by ensuring both head coach and general manager remain in place for 2020. This is a game Denver should win, but they have struggled to be predictable this season.
Kickoff is set for 2:05 p.m. Mile High time on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado. You can watch the live stream of the game through FuboTV.
