NFL Insider, Ian Rapoport reported today that Derek Wolfe will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
#Broncos are placing DE Derek Wolfe (elbow) on Injured Reserve, ending his season, source said. He has 7 sacks, a career-high, in the final year of his contract. Perfectly timed for free agency.

Up until the injury, Wolfe had been enjoying one of the best seasons of his career under Vic Fangio’s new defense. He racked up two sacks, and QB hit before leaving in the second half with an elbow injury.
After the game in the locker room, Wolfe was given a gameball by coach Fangio for his performance, and can be seen in the video in a large brace with his elbow wrapped up.

This is an ill-timed injury for Wolfe who is in the final year of his contract. We haven’t heard word on Denver’s plans for the veteran defensive end, but personally, I would love to see him finish his career out in the orange and blue.
He is a great fit for Fangio’s defense, has great chemistry with Von Miller, and is an excellent leader in the locker room.
There’ll be plenty of time in the coming weeks to talk more about Denver’s offseason plans with key veterans on expiring contracts, but for now, rest up Derek and Bronco Country wishes you well as you recover.
Just talked to Derek Wolfe. He has 6 to 8-week elbow injury. No surgery. Said if there was postseason he could be back playing in January. Coulda been worse. He is going on IR. #9sports
