Vegas set the line at 3.5-points in favor of the Denver Broncos in Week 17 as they host the Oakland Raiders. The public is betting hard on Oakland to cover this spread with 60% of the action going their way.
At one point this season, the Raiders were 6-4 and ready to compete with the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC West crown. They went on a four game skid that they just snapped last week in a win over the Los Angeles Chargers, so I’m not sure where this confidence is coming from.
Denver, on the other hand, has won three of their last four and has seen their offense finally break through its struggles under the leadership of rookie quarterback Drew Lock. The over/under is 41, with most bettors thinking that is too low and I might be inclined to agree there.
It feels like these teams are trending in two different directions here late in the season. The question will be whether or not the Denver defense can avoid being run over like it did in Week 1. Injuries have piled up along the defensive front, so that is definitely a concern. The spread might be exactly right and the Broncos win by a field goal or so. We’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out.
