Chicago Bears safety Adrian Amos recently appeared on Sirius XM NFL radio with Bob Papa and Ed McCaffrey on The Opening Drive and had some interesting comments about potentially joining the Denver Broncos.

During the interview, Amos was asked about potentially joining the Denver Broncos who hired the Bears former Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio as their Head Coach and also brought in former Bears coach Ed Donatell to be their Secondary Coach.
Amos stated that “Obviously Denver would be a fit where I know the defense and things like that”
“I don’t know, but obviously that would be a fit where I know the defense and things like that,” Amos said. “But it’s not something that I’m pinpointing like, ‘Hey, I want to go there,’ or anything like that. I’m just keeping all options open. First and foremost, I’m a Bear right now, so that’s a main focus early on. But if that doesn’t work out, then I have to explore what team fits me best, what team gives me the best opportunity to take care of my family as well as progress on the football field.”
As he said, he wasn’t publicly saying Denver is a team where he wants to go, but simply an option that makes sense for him(and the Broncos) and something he has to keep in mind going forward.
The Broncos are expected to be in the market for another starting safety if/when they part ways with veteran starter Darian Stewart as expected. Amos has flourished under Fangio and Donatell’s guidance and could become a key piece to the Broncos defense moving forward.

Now, Amos did say that he would like to be back with the Bears moving forward, but is keeping his options open right now.
“I would like to be back, but the business part of it, it’s complicated sometimes,” Amos told Bob Papa and Ed McCaffrey on The Opening Drive. “Things still could happen, but I have to be prepared for all scenarios. I’m not writing anything off and that was the team I was drafted to as well. There could be a chance that I’m back and there could be a chance I’m anywhere. That’s the crazy thing about this situation where my contract’s up so anything could really happen. I’m just sitting back and really waiting to see what happens.”
If the Bears do allow Amos to hit the free agent market they would be foolish not to at least check in on him and talk money. The Broncos defense has struggled covering tight ends for what seems like forever and Amos would help rid of the weakness they currently have. He also has continuously graded out as one of the top safeties in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus during his four years in the NFL. He is also just 25 years old and entering the prime of his career.
As Amos has said, the Broncos are an option and it is something the Broncos should do once free agency opens up.
