Broncos keep giving fans a reason to feel optimistic

No, that doesn’t mean much of anything at the end of March, but it’s nice to feel that again.

Good morning, Broncos Country!

The excitement started to creep back in when Vic Fangio got hired.

It got ignited with the staff he’s put together and has continued to grow over the course of NFL free agency. In that refrain, the move by John Elway and the Denver Broncos that seems to have put people over the top is cornerback Bryce Callahan.

On the latest MHR Radio Podcast (iTunes, Spotify, and Stitcher), Adam Malnati and I talked about how, prior to the signing of the former Chicago Bears cornerback, there was still trepidation. Broncos fans liked the additions of Kareem Jackson and Ja’Wuan James, but they wanted more. It wasn’t quite enough. They got that with Callahan. For me, it became more solidified with the news conference of new Denver quarterback Joe Flacco. As I said last week, the confidence, determination and fire Flacco showed was awesome to see.

Don’t look now, but excitement is back in Broncos Country.

No, that doesn’t mean much of anything at the end of March, but it sure as hell beats the alternative of the last two seasons when it all seemed forced. And to me, that’s the biggest difference. None of this seems forced; especially with Fangio and his staff in place. While this doesn’t guarantee a thing on the field, it’s nice to have a reason to feel optimistic again.

Up next is what Elway and the Broncos do in the NFL Draft. Will it keep the excitement growing in Broncos Country?
