ESPN’s draft analyst Todd McShay released a three-round mock draft this weekend. We already covered Mel Kiper’s three-round “perfect”(There is some disagreement there) mock draft where he gave the Broncos Ed Oliver, Dalton Risner, and Ryan Finley. Now let us take a look at what prospects McShay gave the Broncos in his latest mock draft.

Round 1 (10): Drew Lock, QB, Missouri

Round 2 (41): Deebo Samuel, WR, South Carolina

Round 3 (71): Nate Davis, OT/G, Charlotte

Based on how the first nine picks went, I’m taking Lock here. Develop the mobile gunslinger under Joe Flacco’s tutelage before you let him shred defenses by throwing bullets at his new slot receiver. Once Samuel has the ball in his hands, it’s tough to tackle him. Davis, the Broncos’ third-rounder, makes up for the loss of Billy Turner on the offensive line.

Personally, I would be okay with this draft. You get your young quarterback for Offensive Coordinator Rich Scangarello to develop in Drew Lock. He would be an ideal scheme fit and not pressured to play right away. I understand why people would be against it, but it appears to be the realistic pick as of right now.

As for Deebo Samuel, I love this pick. He’s one of my favorite players in the draft and I think he can provide the Broncos with an instant impact. It would give the Broncos a young, but deep receiving core for starting quarterback Joe Flacco to work with. Wide receiver is not the biggest immediate need, but I believe this would be a great pick for the Broncos.

Now Nate Davis isn’t the sexiest offensive line pick thrown around, but he would compete for a starting job and give the Broncos some versatility along their offensive line. If offensive line coach Mike Munchak signs off on the pick who am I disagree?

Now which three-round mock draft would you rather see the Broncos do? Kiper’s of McShay’s?

Kiper:

  1. Defensive tackle, Ed Oliver
  2. Offensive Lineman, Dalton Risner
  3. Quarterback, Ryan Finley

McShay:

  1. Quarterback, Drew Lock
  2. Wide receiver, Deebo Samuel
  3. Guard, Nate Davis
