Broncos add offensive lineman, cornerback after tryouts during voluntary workouts

Jake Brendel and Trey Johnson have been signed to the current roster.

Offensive lineman Jake Brendel and cornerback Trey Johnsontwo players who participated in tryouts at the Broncos’ voluntary mini camp this week have been signed.

The Broncos released cornerback Craig Mager.

Brendel is a fourth-year player from UCLA. He has played in 21 regular-season games, including three starts, and one postseason contest during his NFL career with Miami from 2016-2018. He started three games for the Dolphins last season.

The 6-foot-4, 299-pounder finished his collegiate career as the Bruins’ all-time leader in games started and entered the NFL as a college free agent with the Cowboys.

Johnson is a second-year player from Villanova University who spent his rookie season with the Steelers on injured reserve after joining the team as a college free agent last spring.

He played 46 games for the Wildcats, contributing 123 tackles (83 solo), four interceptions (41 yards) and 31 passes defensed during his collegiate career.
