Offensive lineman Jake Brendel and cornerback Trey Johnson — two players who participated in tryouts at the Broncos’ voluntary mini camp this week — have been signed.
The Broncos released cornerback Craig Mager.
Brendel is a fourth-year player from UCLA. He has played in 21 regular-season games, including three starts, and one postseason contest during his NFL career with Miami from 2016-2018. He started three games for the Dolphins last season.
The 6-foot-4, 299-pounder finished his collegiate career as the Bruins’ all-time leader in games started and entered the NFL as a college free agent with the Cowboys.
Johnson is a second-year player from Villanova University who spent his rookie season with the Steelers on injured reserve after joining the team as a college free agent last spring.
He played 46 games for the Wildcats, contributing 123 tackles (83 solo), four interceptions (41 yards) and 31 passes defensed during his collegiate career.
