The venerable Peter King met with Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio the night after the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft to discuss the picks and Fangio’s overall mindset heading into his first season as a head coach.
The entire interview was a good one. You could tell Fangio was far more relaxed in a private setting and opened up quite a bit more about things. However, the most important and significant comment came at the very end of the interview when Fangio noted that the Broncos were underdogs and you could sense that kind of frame of mind is going to play a huge role in this teams progression in 2019.
“Right now we are the hunter rather than the hunted,” Fangio said when King asked how tough the AFC West is going to be. “We will kind of cherish that role, for a while.”
The last time the underdog mantra possessed this franchise, they march their way to a Super Bowl 50 title. While that may not be in the cards this year, we could be witness to some big wins even so.
I like it.
