During the Denver Broncos presser on Monday, CEO Joe Ellis announced that the team would wear ‘Mr. B’ decals on their helmets for the 2019 season. He would continue discuss preliminary plans for honoring Pat Bowlen through the regular season.
During Week 1, they will plan to have a moment in honor of Bowlen. Then again later in the season against the Tennessee Titans as the team will honor both Pat and Champ Bailey.
In an unrelated note, Ellis also put to rest any idea that the team will name the stadium in honor of Pat.
Joe Ellis on possibility of renaming stadium to honor Pat Bowlen: “I don’t think he would want that, so I don’t think we’re going to do that.”

Given Bowlen’s humble demeanor, there are probably a lot of things he wouldn’t want. The decal could be one of those things. The statue of himself is probably another. However, none of those things involve millions in advertising, so there is that.
As fans, we would have no problem calling the stadium Pat Bowlen Field at Mile High. It was disappointing, but not unexpected, to hear Ellis put that thought to rest early on during this presser.
