Most of the spots on the Denver Broncos roster are taken.
Just how many is up for debate. In the mind of MHR’s Joe Rowles, there are eight spots on the roster up grabs.
On Friday’s 1st & 10 @ 10, Joe joined Ryan Edwards and Steve Atwater to talk about the roster heading into training camp. The discussion was based on Joe’s most valuable Broncos series that he’s done over the course of the offseason.
One of the most interesting position battles is tight end. Joe thinks the Broncos won’t carry more than three tight ends, which would mean one of either Jake Butt or Troy Fumagalli aren’t on the roster (if you consider Jeff Heuerman just got a contract extension and that means he has the edge in that situation).
The other interesting position battle is the No. 5 receiver. It appears that could come down to River Cracraft and Juwan Winfree. As Joe points out in the interview, what could make the difference is return experience.
