The Denver Broncos will be at Broncos Stadium this afternoon hosting a free fan event that culminates with a practice session from 2:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. This will officially be viewed as Day 9 of Broncos training camp.
Head Coach Vic Fangio is hoping for a good turnout. He’d probably like to get some crowd noise drills in or something.
“Hopefully we’ll have a decent crowd, 50,000 or so maybe,” Fangio said. “Is that doable? What’s the weather for tomorrow? Like this? Nice. 50. Broncos Country has to come out. It will be good for those young guys especially some of these guys that have been at small schools where they don’t see a crowd or a stadium that big. It can be a little imposing. Hopefully it helps them for next Thursday and the rest of preseason and moving forward. I think there’s benefit to it. That’s why we did it. We didn’t have to do it. They asked me if I wanted to do it and I said, ‘Yeah. let’s do it.’”
The record is somewhere near 36,000 for these stadium events and Peyton Manning was the quarterback, so I’d be surprised if they get anywhere near that coming off a 6-10 season. Still, if 15,000-20,000 people show up, they should be able to generate some good noise levels.
Over the last two practices, the Broncos offense has finally stepped up and began making some plays during practice. That could make for an up tempo and excited practice for fans this afternoon.
