Head Coach Vic Fangio announced after practice on Monday that quarterback Kevin Hogan will start for the Denver Broncos in their first preseason game. They will play the Atlanta Falcons in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday.

Hogan, 26, will need to perform well to hold off second-round pick Drew Lock for that backup spot behind Joe Flacco. However, Brett Rypien is a threat too as he has come out and had a solid training camp as well.

Entering his fourth season, Hogan has some live game action under his belt as a member of the Cleveland Browns in 2016 and 2017. He completed 59.4% of his passes for 621 yards with 4 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

Kickoff for the Hall of Fame Game is set for Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. Mile High time at Tom Benson Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
