Broncos training camp: Day 10 live updates, July 29, 2019

The Denver Broncos will be preparing for the Atlanta Falcons for their first preseason game of 2019 on Thursday in the Hall of Fame Game.

The Denver Broncos had a day of rest on Sunday after a well attended stadium event on Saturday that say over 21,000 fans in attendance. While the team goes through Day 10 of training camp, they will also begin preparing for their first preseason game on Thursday. Due to inclement weather, today’s practice will be closed to the public.

With the Hall of Fame Game coming up, we will likely begin to see some sort of depth chart formalized. I would expect Kevin Hogan to retain the backup spot for this week, but at some point I am pretty sure Drew Lock and maybe even Brett Rypien surpass him on the depth chart as the preseason progresses.

Head Coach Vic Fangio is still keeping his focus on Lock’s development over his standing on whatever depth chart the team might have this week.

“He’s doing well,” Fangio said of Lock on Saturday. “He had some good periods here today. I think he did his best work in the 7-on-7, which isn’t football, but it’s progress. You need to see that progress in 11-on-11 and then ultimately in games, but he’s getting better.”

It should be fun to see Lock potentially get some playing time on Thursday, but the coaches may treat this game entirely as a throwaway game and use it to evaluate bubble players only.

Stay tuned to Mile High Report as Broncos camp continues.
