According to Adam Schefter, the Denver Broncos will be hosting former Detroit Lions running back Theo Riddick on Monday. Riddick, who wrapped up a visit with the New Orleans Saints as well, is a likely candidate to replace Devontae Booker on the roster.

A few hours later, Mike Klis of 9News announced that Riddick is taking a physical with the Broncos, which could mean a deal is imminent. However, Riddick left Denver without a deal.

Riddick, 28, is entering his seventh season. He’s not much of a threat out of the backfield, but he has proven to be a good option as a third down receiving back. He has topped 50 receptions in each of the last four seasons.

He would certainly add an additional dynamic to the offense as the third guy behind Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman.

Booker has had a few okay seasons with the Broncos, but he is just a year younger and has played three fewer seasons. If the Broncos are serious about improving their running back depth, then Riddick would certainly do that for them.

If the Broncos do end up sending Riddick an offer, they may need to figure out which veteran may need to be cut to make room. The Broncos have just $4 million in cap space due an abnormally large dead money hit this year.

What do you think Broncos Country? Should they pursue Riddick as the eventual replacement to Booker or stay the course with what they have?
