Broncos training camp: Day 11 live updates, July 30, 2019

The Denver Broncos continue their preparation for the Atlanta Falcons for their first preseason game of 2019 on Thursday in the Hall of Fame Game.

The Denver Broncos will continue with their preparation for the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday. This will be their final training camp practice on the schedule until Sunday as the team will be travelling to and from Canton, Ohio this week. Many will also likely be in attendance as Pat Bowlen and Champ Bailey are inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.

With the first of five preseason games coming up, Head Coach Vic Fangio let it be known that he likes the extra game.

“I like it,” Fangio said of the extra preseason game. “I think the guys that benefit the most from it are the young players. They’re going to get more reps. So many times I think young players feel with the four-game schedule, they don’t get enough opportunities, so they’re going to get enough opportunities here and get their play on tape. The good thing about being a football player, you don’t have to make a resume up. Your resume’s on tape and every team gets it. Hopefully we’ll be able to do right and give everybody an ample amount of reps.”

Giving the young players on the roster bubble an extra game to show coaches what they can do is an underrated benefit to the extra preseason games. Fans obviously want to see the starters play, but coaches want to get the best players on that final 53-man roster and this extra playing time will give them an opportunity to do just that.
