After a few series from the starters a few weeks ago, the Denver Broncos (1-3) decided they were done risking injury in meaningless games. With this being the fifth and final preseason game for them, we can expect nothing but reserves in action against the Arizona Cardinals (1-2).
The key battle in this final game will be between Kevin Hogan and rookie Brett Rypien and whether either can do enough to convince the Broncos they can be trusted to hold down the fort while Drew Lock rehabs from a bad hand sprain.
“I’d like to see some separation from them,” Fangio said on Monday. “We’ve got one more game to do that. That remains to be seen. I’ve seen some good play. I’ve seen some not so good, so I don’t know the answer to that just yet.”
He hasn’t ruled out bringing in a veteran quarterback either, but Fangio noted there isn’t a lot of them available. Hopefully we’ll see one of these two secure the job by the end of this week.
Game time against the Cardinals will be at 7:05 P.M. Mile High time on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Broncos Stadium at Mile High in Denver, Colorado.
