The Broncos have parted ways with receiver Trinity Benson and offensive linemen John Leglue, and Sam Jones per 9News’ Mike Klis:

Sam Jones is the first release that surprises me, as he’s looked stout over the last three preseason games. I suspect the fact that he was limited to mostly guard play hurt his chances at making the active roster.
In addition to Klis’ speculation on Benson, I’d add that John Leglue looks like a strong candidate for the Broncos practice squad. He offers tackle/guard versatility and Vic Fangio stated that’s a priority for the depth lineman because of the nature of the active roster.
The offensive line releases leave Garett Bolles, Dalton Risner, Conner McGovern, Ronald Leary, Ja’Wuan James, Elijah Wilkinson, Quinn Bailey, Austin Schlottmann, and Jake Rodgers on the roster. Schlottmann offers the flexibility to play both guard/center while Wilkinson and the others can play tackles.
Benson’s release isn’t as surprising considering his jump from tiny East Central to the NFL. He does offer an intriguing blend of size and athleticism. He’s had some big plays in practice and a couple of nice sideline catches in the preseason. It looks like he lost the numbers game in part because he didn’t stand out as a return candidate and the roster will need that from the 6th receiver.
The receiving corps is now down to Courtland Sutton, Emmanuel Sanders, Tim Patrick, DaeSean Hamilton, Juwann Winfree, Kelvin McKnight, Fred Brown, and River Cracraft.
