Good morning, Broncos Country!
There were tears.
There were smiles.
There were times both happened at the same time.
Above all else it was unforgettable.
Champ Bailey and Pat Bowlen are two of the newest inductees into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The player and owner who loved and respected each other are now teammates in the 2019 Hall of Fame class. That is both fitting and poetic.
On the latest MHR Radio Podcast (ApplePodcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher) Adam Malnati and I give a Mile High Salute to the latest Denver Broncos to get their busts in Canton, Ohio. We also talk about the Broncos who could/should get their due ... perhaps as soon as 2020. Of course we’re talking about Steve Atwater and Randy Gradishar. It certainly seems like there is momentum for Atwater for the Modern Era and Gradishar for the expanded 10-member Seniors. Of course that means we will see five more Kansas City Chiefs and five more Minnesota Vikings.
But on Saturday it was about Bailey and Mr. B. It was about the Broncos.
Bailey’s speech was 100 percent Champ. Brilliant, cool, smooth, poignant and powerful.
The introductory video for Bowlen induced both chills and tears.
It was an unforgettable night filled with emotion and incredible memories. It was a night owned by the Broncos.
Bailey and Mr. B — now forever known as Hall-of-Famers.
