In Week 3, the Denver Broncos (0-2) are on the road against the Green Bay Packers (2-0) in a tough matchup for the road team. Coming off a couple of bad breaks and a loss, the road team now has to taken on a red hot contender with Aaron Rodgers under center.

In the Something Something Broncos podcast above, Jess, Laurie, and I dug into the last game and especially this upcoming game against the Packers. Last week was heartbreaking, so we could get an angry and motivated team or one that falls flat after such a huge letdown. We’ll probably know which one pretty quickly.

Game Preview

The Broncos are in a tough spot going into a place the franchise has never won in Lambeau Field. Sitting at 0-2, coming off a game they should have won had it been called correctly there at the end. But that’s life in today’s NFL.

For Head Coach Vic Fangio, his new program needs to start showing the players it can be successful or the wheels could come off his first tenure as a head coach rather quickly.

“There’s nothing like winning,” Fangio said this week. “There’s nothing like playing good for an individual player to have confidence, but we still have confidence. You just have to believe in what you’ve done forever, believe in yourself and hopefully get the worm turned here at some point.”

The worm will have a difficult time turning in this game, but if they can string together a couple of wins in Weeks 4-6 before their Thursday Night Football home showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs, then that might be where the worm turns here. But first, stealing a road win along the way against either these Packers or the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5 would be huge as well.

Here is how to watch.

Odds

No one has confidence that the Broncos are any good in 2019, so the line has held steady all week at a solid touchdown in favor of the Packers. Personally, I predict the Broncos will at least cover that spread, but I am weary of going all-in on a win for them. They are still a younger team with a lot of new faces trying to build some chemistry together.

Matchup History

The Broncos have an interesting history with the Packers. They are dead even in the regular season at 6-6-1 against each other, but if you throw in Super Bowl 32 the Broncos get the edge in overall meetings. However, it really is a tale of two eras. Through the 1970s and up to 1990, the Broncos were 4-1-1 and just 2-5 since - not counting that Super Bowl win.

Denver has never beaten Green Bay in Lambeau. They are 0-5-1. With Rodgers at quarterback, they could be faced with some long odds in this game as well.
