Belichick's draft record during Elway's tenure

Let's do a comparison

Belichick’s first three round picks, 2011-2019

2011 1 – Nate Solder – Solid starter (no pro-bowls)
2011 2 – Shane Vereen – Solid backup
2011 3 – Stevan Ridley – Average backup
2011 3 – Ryan Mallett – flop

2012 1 – Chandler Jones – starter/Star
2012 2 – Tavon Wilson – bust (universally considered a major draft reach)
2012 3 – Jake Bequette – bust

2013 1 – traded
2013 2 – Jamie Collins – Solid starter for 4 years, then traded
2013 3 – Logan Ryan – backup 2 years, starter 2 years, not re-signed
2013 3 – Duron Harmon – current backup safety

2014 1 – Dominique Easley – Bust
2014 2 – Jimmy Garoppolo – Solid backup
2014 3 – NONE

2015 1 – Malcolm Brown – decent backup, not re-signed
2015 2 – Jordan Richards – average backup, traded in year 3
2015 3 – Geneo Grissom – little more than a practice squad player

2016 1 – FORFEITED BECAUSE OF CHEATING
2016 2 – Cyrus Jones – total bust
2016 3 – Joe Thuney – solid starter
2016 3 – Jacoby Brissett – solid backup
2016 3 – Vincent Valentine – bust

2017 1 – Traded for Brandon Cooks (pick was Ramczyk)
2017 2 – Traded (Kony Ealy, who was waived before the season started)
2017 3 – Derek Rivers – total bust so far
2017 3 – Antonio Garcia – never played a down for the team, largely injury-related

2018 1 – Sony Michel – average/below average starter (trust me, he’s on my fantasy team, I know)
2018 2 – Duke Dawson – yeah, he "plays" for us now
2018 3 – TRADED for Trent Brown + 5th round pick (!)

2019 1 – N’Keal Harry – nothing but injury so far
2019 2 – Joejuan Williams – hasn’t played a down yet
2019 3 – Chase Winovich – looks like a solid pick so far
2019 3 – Damien Harris – special teams contributor so far – ridiculous to draft a RB this high when they had so many good ones on their roster already
2019 3 – Yodney Cajuste – non-football injury list

In the same period as Elway, Belichick has drafted 3, maybe 4 starters in the first three rounds of NINE years of drafts.

Ouch. Elway’s draft record is much better than that. Granted, Belichick does have a knack for turning top draft picks into solid/very good players via trade.

Maybe some perspective helps.
