The first big splash of the offseason for the Denver Broncos has settled.
The organization made official the hiring of Pat Shurmur as the new offensive coordinator. Save for other changes on the offensive staff or, hopefully, at special teams, there may not be any splashes for a while.
On the MHR Radio Podcast, Adam Malnati and I explored some of the Broncos potential targets in free agency and even, gasp, the NFL Draft. One of the players Adam focused on as a potential target in the draft played in Monday’s National Championship game, Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons.
In terms of free agency, we had our “dream” targets, such as defensive tackle Chris Jones and cornerback Byron Jones. Of course the first Jones would have to make it free agency, but that’s why their called a “dream.”
Given how early in the offseason we are, who knows who John Elway, Vic Fangio and the Broncos will target. But with the first big splash out of the way, we can look ahead to who will produce the next one.
