According to Benjamin Allbright, the Denver Broncos have fired quarterbacks’ coach T.C. McCartney. 9NEWs Denver’s Mike Klis has confirmed this report as well.
Breaking: #Broncos making further offensive staff changes. Have fired QB coach TC McCartney
— Benjamin Allbright (@AllbrightNFL) January 15, 2020
This move was expected after the Broncos fired offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello. He brought McCartney with him from San Francisco, so it makes sense that he would face the same fate his boss did.
Look for newly hired offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur to hire “one of his guys” to fill that role. A name to watch here is former New York Giants offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Shula. Shula is interviewing for the Giants offensive coordinator job but if he does not get it, I could see him joining Shurmur in Denver.
We will have more on this story as it develops.
