Broncos announced several roster transactions; activate A.J. Bouye

Slowly but surely, the Denver Broncos are getting healthier. They made several roster changes ahead of their game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Denver Broncos are getting healthy. Or at least as healthy as they can be without Courtland Sutton and Von Miller for 2020.

On Saturday, the team announced they would activate cornerback A.J. Bouye off of injured reserve. Bouye’s return will be a huge boost to the secondary as they prepare to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Defensive ends Dre’Mont Jones and DeMarcus Walker were also activated off of injured reserve.

Bouye went down in Week 1, while Jones and Walker in Week 2. The return of all three will be a huge boost to the defense at a most critical time. The team also gets back tight end Noah Fant who missed last week with an ankle injury.

To make room on the active roster, Denver released cornerback De’Vante Bausby. They had released defensive lineman Timmy Jernigan on Tuesday and defensive lineman Sylvester Williams was on Friday.

There were some other moves of note. Both inside linebacker Nigel Bradham and running back Jeremy Cox were officially elevated to the active roster off the practice squad.

Bradham is a nine year veteran who played four years with the Buffalo Bills and four with the Philadelphia Eagles before coming to Denver. Cox is a first year running back out of Old Dominion.

With those moves all happening, the Broncos also made some changes to their practice squad this week. A day after releasing quarterback Blake Bortles, the team put him on their practice squad. They also signed both Timmy Jernigan and Sylvester Williams back to their practice squad after releasing them earlier this week. We might want to keep an eye on De’Vante Bausby as he could return to the practice squad on Sunday.
