The Denver Broncos (1-3) are coming off their first win of the season last week and will hit the road to take on the New England Patriots (2-2) in Week 5. This will be the second of three straight games against AFC East opponents for Denver.
It looks like Cam Newton will still be recovering from COVID-19, so it’ll be Brian Hoyer in for the Patriots. While Drew Lock has begun practicing again, it is quite iffy he’ll be ready to go by Sunday. If not, then Brett Rypien will be given the start.
According to SportsBetting.com, the Broncos will be 3.5-point underdogs to the Patriots this week with an over/under at 40.5. The opening line appears to be double-digits initially, but with the COVID-19 outbreak with the Patriots it has slid back towards Denver’s favor.

I’d still give the edge to the Patriots here. Bill Belichick frustrated and hounded Patrick Mahomes last week, so I can only image what he’ll come up with to confuse and frustrate Rypien during his second NFL start. Although Hoyer will likely be good for a turnover or two that could keep this game a lot closer than it probably would be had Cam played.
I’ll give the nod to the Patriots 26-17 in this one. That means I think the Patriots will cover this spread and we’ll see an over on the over/under.
