Broncos are 3-point underdogs to the Panthers in Week 14

The Denver Broncos continue their streak of being underdogs heading into games each week. They are down three against the Carolina Panthers.

The Denver Broncos are on the road again this week and will take on the Carolina Panthers. Both teams are 4-8 and likely seeing their slim playoff chances roll into elimination within a week or two, but for now each has a chance to keep those playoff hopes alive one more week with a win.

According to, the Broncos are a slight 3-point underdog to the Panthers. The home team generally gets a three point advantage, but in the COVID-19 fanless world the advantage is actually closer to half that for home teams.

Drew Lock had a better game last week, but he still had two costly turnovers and missed wide open receivers again. The most egregious was on his first interception when a camera angle caught a wide open Nick Vannett right in front of him with green grass all the way to end zone. Finding the open completion is something Lock mentioned on Wednesday.

“It’s about knowing you can make those deep ones, but if it’s not the optimal look here, those backs are in the flat and those tight ends are in the flat,” Lock said. “We have check downs on these plays for a reason. We dial them up for a couple specific looks, and if they don’t give it to you, there’s no need to force it. There’s completions underneath and it’s all about finding completions in this league.

That is something we should all be watching for from Drew Lock in the remaining four games. Will he be able to translate his obvious understanding of the need to check down and find the completions underneath to his desire to go big or go home every chance he gets.

If he can, then the Broncos will win this game against the Panthers easily. They really are good quarterback play away from contention.
