Ryan Edwards and Benjamin Allbright of Broncos Country Tonight brought on WHAM Rochester Bills Anchor Dan Fetes onto their show to discuss the Denver Broncos game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.
One of the key points they discussed was how the Broncos might contain Josh Allen and the Stefon Diggs duo in that game. The two have become one of the best qb/wr duos in the NFL in 2020.
The Broncos will need to do that with a heavily depleted secondary that will be missing starters A.J. Bouye and Bryce Callahan, along with most of their primary backups as well with Essang Bassey, Duke Dawson, and Kevin Toliver all done for the year with ACL injuries. They will need to rely on rookie Michael Ojemudia and journeyman De’Vante Bausby. They also brought back Will Parks who will be the nickel cornerback.
Head Coach Vic Fangio was asked about that situation at cornerback and he admitted he has never been in this type of situation before.
“No, I’ve never been in this situation before—and when you say three corners, the third one just got here. So, there’s a lot to learn and a lot to get in. [I’ve] never been in this situation before. Hopefully Michael [Ojemudia] and ‘Baus’ (De’Vante Bausby) and Will [Parks] as the nickel can stay upright and play the entire game and we won’t have to find out.”
That is a tough situation for the Broncos defense as they go up against one of the top overall offenses in 2020. However, if they can somehow contain Stefon Diggs then they might have a chance of slowing down Allen and the Bills offense overall.
