Here we go. The Denver Broncos are on a 10 game losing streak against their AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs and are on the road in Arrowhead Stadium in December. To top that off, this Chiefs team could be the best they’ve fielded in over 50 years and are looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions. So yeah, here we go.

Game Preview

This game will come down to how well the Broncos defense can contain and limit the damage done by the high octane Patrick Mahomes led offense. If they can force field goals over touchdowns, then they have a chance.

That chance is still going to be a slim one, so Drew Lock and the Broncos offense will need to score touchdowns - lots of them. If they do that, then it could still come down to how much time is left on the clock the last time Mahomes touches the football.

The likelihood of all of this happening is quite small which is why the Broncos are two touchdown underdogs this weekend. However, like the good fans we are, we’ll hope and root for the outcome we want.

Here’s how to watch.

Broncos Betting Odds

According to SportsBetting.com, the Broncos are a full two touchdown underdog to the Chiefs in Week 13. It’s the biggest point spread the Broncos have faced against an AFC West opinion in at least 30 years. Amazingly, they have won the last two games they were 10+ point underdogs to an AFC West opponent. Here’s to seeing a little luck to make it three in a row.

Matchup History

The Chiefs were dominated by the Broncos during the Peyton Manning era, but those roles have completely reversed as they look to extend their winning streak against Denver to 11 consecutive games this week. That would tie the longest losing streak the Broncos have ever had against the Chiefs. The previous mark was set during the 60s.

Fan Sentiment

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking ahead to 2021 at this point. The Broncos would need to lose out to have any shot at a super interesting and high draft pick, which I’m not entirely sure they will do. This team has proven it is good enough to compete in most games, which means they’ll find a way to win one or two down the stretch. That will likely put them in the middle of the first round.

Broncos Podcasts

On MHR Radio this week, Ian St. Clair and Adam Malnati are not looking forward to watching Sunday’s game. The disparity between the Broncos and Chiefs at this juncture is worrisome.

Cover 2 Broncos with Jeff Essary and Joe Rowles talked shop with a fellow film hound to talk blitzology. There’s still some good football being played in Denver on the defensive side of the ball.

On this week’s episode of Something Something Broncos, Laurie Lattimore-Volkmann, Jess Place, and myself discussed the fallout from the NFL-forced “forfeit” game last week against the New Orleans Saints.
