Broncos defensive game plan against Chiefs was good enough to win

The Denver Broncos had an excellent defensive game plan to contain the Kansas City Chiefs scoring ability, but it wasn’t quite enough.

KOA’s Voice of the Broncos, Dave Logan, joined Ryan Edwards and Ben Allbright on Broncos Country Tonight to discuss the Denver Broncos game plan against the Kansas City Chiefs, Drew Lock’s progress and other things.

The key takeaway from this interview was how well Head Coach Vic Fangio and his staff game planned to slow down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense. Sure, they gave up yards, but that was by design. Keep them out of the end zone and then use the rushing attack to keep the ball out of Mahomes hands.

The game plan worked for most of the game, but it came down to a few key miscues that a team like Denver just couldn’t make against a team like the Chiefs. The only issue really was when they brought the blitz. That was when Mahomes made them pay.

Overall, it was an excellent defensive game plan that held Kansas City to a season-low 22 points on the night.
