Klis: Broncos are not interested in Phillip Rivers and are moving forward with Drew Lock

Duh.

It was reported and confirmed earlier this afternoon that the Los Angeles Chargers would not be bringing back veteran and longtime quarterback Phillip Rivers in 2020.

After this announcement was made and initially made a few weeks ago, some pondered if Rivers made sense for the Broncos for whatever reason. Well, 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis squashed those silly rumors by saying the Broncos would not be interested in Rivers(and his bolo ties) and will be moving forward with 2019 second-round pick, Drew Lock.

Personally, I think this is a bit of a “no sh*t” statement considering what Lock showed during his five starts to end the 2019 season. However, you always have a few pushing these sort of things so it is good to squash these false rumors as quickly as possible.

I will miss the rivalry the Broncos had with Rivers during his time with the Chargers, but it was time for them to move on. He was clearly declining and they will be in the market for a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. Could we see Tu’a or Herbert in powder blues next season? We shall see.

Hopefully we will not have to do the same report if/when Tom Brady hits the open market. Until then, let us remember the time Peyton Manning and the Broncos had a huge comeback win against the then San Diego Chargers. This win was topped off by a Phillip Rivers pick 6 to cornerback Chris Harris Jr.

Enjoy!
