It was announced by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Chicago Bears have released veteran cornerback Prince Amukamara.

This is noteworthy because Amukamara played for current Denver Broncos Head Coach Vic Fangio in Chicago. He was one of their starting corners and played rather well in that role. The veteran corner could decide to reunite with his former defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and his former secondary coach Ed Donatell in Denver.
The moves makes a ton of sense for both parties. Amukamara knows Fangio’s system and played well in this system in 2017 and 2018. Also, with Chris Harris Jr. likely not returning, the Broncos need a starting outside corner to fill that role. He would not be the Broncos number one corner, but he would be a solid number two who is a wonderful scheme in Fangio’s defense.
This move would give the Broncos the makings of a solid secondary. I am expecting another major move to fill that number one corner spot(Darius Slay or Byron Jones) but Amukamara outside and hopefully a healthy Bryce Callahan at the slot is an improved secondary from the one they had in 2019. Add in Justin Simmons returning and hopefully Kareem Jackson continuing to play well and you have a secondary that can hopefully challenge Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
I’ve been told that Amukamara would have real interest in coming to Denver and reuniting with Vic Fangio. https://t.co/UfUgz0sVGa

Personally, I think this move would make a ton of sense. A one or two-year deal for a veteran who can fill a need that you really don’t have an answer for. He’s a great scheme fit and should not really cost all that much. I really do think this will come together quickly.
What do you think Broncos Country?
