Podcast: Could wide receiver be the Broncos highest priority with their first round pick?

The Denver Broncos have been meeting with a lot of wide receivers at the NFL Scouting Combine. That could bode well for the offense if they follow through in the first round.

This morning on the Something Something Broncos podcast, we talked NFL Scouting Combine and who the Denver Broncos are meeting with. So far, they are heavy on wide receivers and offensive lineman.

We looked at last year and who they meet with at the Combine does kind of hint at what their plans might be for the upcoming NFL Draft. In 2018, they position they met with the most ended up being tight end. Denver ultimately traded down 10 spots to select tight end Noah Fant with the 20th overall pick.

So far through two days of interviews, the Broncos have met with nine wide receivers. The next closest position group is offensive tackle where they have met with three, so far. The list of wide receivers are mostly first round guys; Laviska Shenault, Gabriel Davis, Henry Ruggs III, Denzel Mims, Tee Higgins, Justin Jefferson, Brandon Aiyuk. CeeDee Lamb, and Jalen Reagor.

Given the Broncos history with interviews, we could be looking at wide receivers as the mostly likely target in the first round. While some people might rant BPA, I think it might be more about BWRA (Best Wide Receiver Available). Pairing a guy who can stretch the field with Courtland Sutton and Noah Fant could be exactly what the Broncos offense needs to start putting points on the board.
