Report: Broncos trade fullback Andy Janovich to the Cleveland Browns for a 2021 7th-round pick

According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos have traded fullback Andy Janovich to the Cleveland Browns for a 2021 7th-round selection.

Newly hired offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur doesn’t utilize a traditional fullback like Janovich so this made Jano expendable. At least the Broncos were able to get something for their beloved fullback instead of just outright releasing him.

Janovich played four seasons with the Denver Broncos where he totaled 13 rushes for 51 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 22 balls for 233 yards and 1 touchdown as well. He was primarily known for his run blocking skills as well as his special teams ability.

He quickly became a fan favorite for his aggressive style of play, but unfortunately for Janovich, the traditional fullback is a dying breed in the NFL. Shurmur’s offense will see more shotgun and pistol looks with multiple receivers spread out wide with a back in the backfield. Janovich really wouldn’t have a role and would be a wasted roster spot. So at least the Broncos were able to get something for him even if it wasn’t all that much.
