The Denver Broncos secondary is going to be quite different in 2020. They have already traded for A.J. Bouye and will finally have last years’ free agent signing Bryce Callahan in the mix, while letting Chris Harris Jr. walk. Now they ink De’Vante Bausby to a one-year deal at the veteran minimum. Under the new CBA, that puts his salary at $750,000.

He had other offers.
Bausby, 27, was a star in the now defunct AAF league and flashed promise early last season before suffering a frightening neck/spine injury that landed him on injured reserve and a road to recovery.
“They said I was paralyzed for the first 30 minutes,” Bausby said of his injury. “I was awake the whole time. I was never unconscious, I just couldn’t move. But I was still talking and everything and the doctor said I’ll be fine and I trusted him and after 30 minutes, I was able to wiggle my toes and after a couple hours, I gained full mobility.”
The Broncos skipped placing a tender on Bausby earlier this month, but they never stopped talking with him and his agent.
“We were looking for the tender, didn’t get it, but it’s ok,” Bausby said last week. “I’m ready to be a Bronco, though. I’m blessed to even have an opportunity.....ready to be a Bronco, the conversations my agent and the Broncos are having are pretty good so hopefully pretty soon here we can get things done.”
Now he is on a one-year ‘prove it’ kind of deal and will be back in Denver for 2020. He showed tremendous ballhawk skills early on and his style of play is exactly what we as fans love to see from the cornerback position. They could still add more talent here, but having Bausby in the mix will make the entire group that much better.
