Broncos have waived Joe Flacco with a failed physical designation

The Denver Broncos have moved on from quarterback Joe Flacco. The move frees up a nice chunk of change in salary cap too.

The writing was on the wall for Joe Flacco and the Denver Broncos once the team agreed to terms with quarterback Jeff Driskel. It will be Driskel, not Flacco, backing up Drew Lock in 2020. The team announced on Thursday that they will waive Flacco with a failed physical designation.

Flacco had a pretty rough go at it with the Broncos. In eight games, he threw just six touchdowns to five interceptions and took a whooping 26 sacks in that timeframe. He was completely underwhelming leading the team to a 2-6 record before getting injured and ultimately replaced by Lock.

From a salary cap standpoint, the waived with injury designation will mean all $13.4 million of his dead money hit will count against the cap this year.
