Cecil Lammey wasted no time.
When I asked him what he thinks of John Elway and the Denver Broncos making the move to get cornerback A.J. Bouye from the Jacksonville Jaguars, he said Elway is “crushing it.” Most in Broncos Country would agree with the host and writer for 104.3 FM; especially when you consider the Broncos will get Bouye for a fourth-round pick and he has cap-friendly deal the next two years.
The other reason Lammey and I like the move is it keeps Denver from the massive bidding war for Byron Jones, and it’s a war they could lose. Not to mention Jones will net at least $17 million a year, while Bouye is due $13.5 million in both 2020 and 2021.
On the MHR Radio Podcast, Adam Malnati and I go through the Bouye move (it won’t be official until the league year starts on March 18) and what other moves Elway and the Broncos could make with Cecil. One idea I proposed is another deal with the Jaguars for Calais Campbell, who was close to signing in his hometown a few years ago. We also all agree Denver will make another move at cornerback, potentially signing Prince Amukamara.
We also get into the NFL Scouting Combine and what the Broncos could do with the No. 15 pick in the NFL Draft. What Cecil proposes could make fans incredibly excited ... the potential of linebacker Isaiah Simmons playing in Vic Fangio’s defense. I think this is highly unlikely, but we can all dream.
