De’Vante Bausby is “ready to be a Bronco”

The Broncos and Bausby’s agents are currently in talks to bring him back to Denver.

Cornerback De’Vante Bausby joined Ryan Edwards and Benjamin Allbright tonight on Broncos Country Tonight to discuss the upcoming free agency period, and how he feels coming off of a season ending injury.

First up, Bausby is completely healthy and has been cleared to play for several months now, after a scary neck injury sidelined him in Week 5. On the show tonight, he said he was initially cleared around Week 14 and is now fully healthy after several months.

They also talked about Denver’s decision not to tender him as a restricted free agent.

“We were looking for the tender, didn’t get it, but it’s ok. I’m ready to be a Bronco, though. I’m blessed to even have an opportunity.....ready to be a Bronco, the conversations my agent and the Broncos are having are pretty good so hopefully pretty soon here we can get things done.”

Denver would benefit from having Bausby back there in the secondary. In his short time early last season, I was really impressed with him and thought he was a great fit in Fangio’s defense.

He talked about being disappointed with the injury because he felt like he was just starting to hit his stride. The most impressive thing about him is he came up big on 3rd downs. Nearly all of his plays he made, came on key 3rd downs.

He is definitely an asset, and would be a nice addition to the secondary this offseason along with AJ Bouye, who Bausby referred to as a “stud”.

Check out Ryan and Ben’s full conversation with De’Vante above or right here. I really like him as a player on and off the field and think Denver may have found a diamond in the rough. Hope to see him officially brought back soon.
