The Broncos have been in the receiver market all offseason and long have been expected to select one in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Alabama’s Henry Ruggs III has been rumored as the Broncos preferred choice with teammate Jerry Jeudy and Oklahoma’s Ceedee Lamb also connected. However, one name has entered the conversation late and could be a darkhorse selection for the Broncos at 15th overall. That player being Baylor wide receiver Denzel Mim’s.
Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline is reporting that the Las Vegas Raiders and the Denver Broncos are both “very high” on Mims.
So, where could Mims end up? I’m told both the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos are very high on Mims. The Raiders are expected to take receivers early and often in the draft’s opening rounds. And while the consensus has Denver taking Ruggs if he’s available, I’m told the team is just as high on Mims.
And while there is a belief that Mims could be selected earlier than most project, there is also an opinion that if he’s not chosen by the 26th pick, he could slide into the top part of Round 2.
Mims is a 6’3”, 205lb receiver who has been elevating his stock this entire draft process. He ran a blistering 4.38 40-time at the NFL Scouting Combine and showed off his big play potential at the Reese’s Senior Bowl. Mims has also met with the Broncos multiple times throughout this draft process including a video call him with recently. So there is definitely interest there and they might just like him as much as Ruggs as Pauline says.
If the Broncos cannot trade up for Ruggs III or if he’s not there at 15th overall, they could consider taking Mims at 15th overall. I wouldn’t mind that personally, but a trade back potentially could be looked at here in this scenario. 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis has hinted that the Broncos want another pick between their 15th overall and their 46th overall pick, so they could acquire that pick that way.
What do you think Broncos Country? Would like it if the Broncos selected Denzel Mims in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft?
