According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, he was told by Denver Broncos General Manager John Elway that the Broncos trading up from 15th overall is “unlikely”. However, he ends his quote by saying “never say never” so who really knows.
Just spoke with #Broncos GM John Elway, preparing for his 10th draft. He described moving up as unlikely: “We feel comfortable at 15 the we’re going to get a good football player so, instead of reaching for one, most likely we stay put. But never say never.”

The hot rumor heading into tonight’s first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft was that the Broncos would likely be a team that would trade up into the top 10 to get their wide receiver of choice. However, with under three hours until the Cincinnati Bengals are officially on the clock, Elway is stating that it’s unlikely and that they are comfortable where they are.
Now, this could be complete bull because what GM would come out and say that they have a trade planned with hours until they are on the clock. Also, the never say never does leave that door pretty wide open for things to change. Now, with all that said, I don’t think he would come out and say it’s unlikely if things were heading that way. He would disguise it better than he did, but again, who really knows, it’s the draft.
I personally would rather see the Broncos stand pat or trade back depending how the board falls. It’s a deep receiver class and the team has too many holes to give up much in a trade up. The odds of a trade up do seem less than they did heading into today but you never know until the picks start being made and the board starts becoming more and more clear.
So after all this, we still have no clue, but it’s a stark change from the multiple rumors saying a trade up was pretty much a guarantee.
