Jerry Jeudy told Denver media in his introductory presser via zoom Thursday night that his greatest asset as a wide receiver is his ability to separate.
And that seems to jive with what the scouts say too.
The Athletic’s Dane Brugler noted that Jeudy can “run every route in the playbook.”
“He is a very quarterback-friendly target with his ability to separate, making sharp, collected cuts at full speed that defenders can’t match,” Brugler added. “Everything he does is quick.”

The Broncos’ first-round pick admitted he was a little surprised to go as late as 15, but at the same time he knew the Draft would not go exactly as expected.
But for John Elway & Co., having Jeudy still there at 15 was exactly what they hoped for - even though Elway said “fewer than half of their mocks” had the Alabama receiver still available.

“We felt like we were going to get a very good football player. Wide receiver was our No. 1 goal and it fell that way”
And even though Jeudy’s Alabama teammate Henry Ruggs III went three spots ahead of him to AFC West rival Las Vegas Raiders, Jeudy believes he is the best wideout in the 2020 class.
“I’ve got the ability to separate. I find a way to get open and catch the ball. ...If I’m going open and creating 5-6 yards separation, I can get 10 to 12 more yards after the catch,” he said, adding that he can play anywhere. “I’m a route receiver. I can play inside, outside...I know how to get open.”
He’ll certainly have some high expectations, coming in as the team’s highest drafted wide receiver ever and just its fifth first-round wideout in history.
.@jerryjeudy becomes the highest drafted WR by the @Broncos. He is the fifth first-round WR in team history, joining Demaryius Thomas (22nd, 2010), Ashlie Lelie (19th, 2002), Marcus Nash (30th, 1998) & Ricky Natiel (27th, 1987).— Seth Medvin (@SethMedvinPR) April 24, 2020
Playing at Alabama, a school known for its wide receivers during Nick Saban’s tenure, Jeudy has a lot of former first-round draft picks to live up to - Julio Jones in 2011, Amari Cooper in 2015 and Calvin Ridley in 2018.
But Jeudy seems poised for the challenge. Getting to play behind Ridley for two years, Jeudy learned a lot from the current WR2 for the Atlanta Falcons, mainly “just how to be a pro.”
“Calvin did everything the right way. He worked hard. He practiced hard. He did the right things off the field,” Jeudy said. “Me being behind him, I watched and learned his every move, his every step, just how to be a pro and somebody that you can depend on [that is] accountable. He’s one of the leaders that everybody looked up to in the locker room.”
One of the areas Jeudy sought to improve this past year was recognizing coverages.
“Once I started reading coverages better, I started playing a lot faster,” he said. “I could manipulate the defense and help me get open.”
That kind of play is probably what got him noticed by Broncos head coach Vic Fangio, who said he watched a lot of wide receiver film in the lead up to this year’s draft, looking for the guys who would be hard to cover.
"He's very crisp and sharp at the breaking points. It’s hard to cover when a receiver can do that, and he has the ability to do that.” - Coach Fangio on @jerryjeudy#BroncosDraft pic.twitter.com/kWrNdrs65D— Denver Broncos (@Broncos) April 24, 2020
