The Denver Broncos have selected Arkansas defensive line McTelvin Agim in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Broncos add a player who may look a lot like DreMont Jones on paper. Early on Agim is going to fit into the defensive line rotation most on passing downs as an interior rusher.

One of the things that I found really interesting as I dug into Agim’s scouting reports and tape is that he was asked to play a lot of nose tackle for the Razorbacks, which isn’t really his skill set.

Ideally he is a pass rusher and gap shooter who has some creative hand work, but needs to get stronger in order to stack and shed better. This should also help him hold up to double teams more often.

What I really like about the Agim pick is that one of the hardest things for offenses to account for are disruptive rushers between the tackles. If a coordinator devotes too much attention to protecting a guard or center, it leaves their tackles with less help for blocking edge rushers.

Taking Jones and Agim in back to back years suggests to me that Fangio has a plan in mind for combating the Kansas City Chiefs, and it’s one I can definitely get on board with.
