Troy Renck just poured gasoline on the Drew Lock excitement fire.
The enthusiasm was close to inferno levels over the Denver Broncos quarterback and the potential for the offense, and the flame is even more intense now.
Renck tweeted on Monday that Lock has started to throw to a few receivers (it’s not known whom), and the hope is to amp it up when allowed. Renck added that Lock is doing everything permissible to get ready for the upcoming season while practicing social distancing guidelines in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While practicing social guidelines, #Broncos QB @DrewLock23 has thrown to a few receivers recently. Hope is to amp it up when allowed. But Drew is doing everything permissible to get ready for the upcoming season. #Denver7 pic.twitter.com/d6MT7BE8J0

On the MHR Radio Podcast, Adam Malnati and I continue to grow more and more excited over Lock and the potential for him and the Broncos offense.
As I told Adam, and as I’ve said before, man, I’m so stoked that Lock is Denver’s quarterback. This is yet more evidence that he gets it and has “it.”
What makes me so excited isn’t what he showed in his first five games.
It’s not that he appears to have the physical tools to play the position.
It’s that it’s evident Lock loves football. By that I mean, he doesn’t just love to play it. He loves the preparation. He loves to study. He loves the work to make himself great.
The other reason this should make Broncos Country excited about Lock is it shows he’s a leader.
There is still a lot of work ahead for the Denver quarterback. Rough times will come, and how he responds to those moments will tell us all whether the excitement is warranted.
But it’s hard not to feel that optimism, even this early on. Here’s to Lock being the guy for at least the next decade.
