Jake Plummer is one of my favorite Denver Broncos.
His free spirit and competitive drive are two of the big reasons. The other is he’s the type of guy you want to have a beer with and just talk about life.
“I just think that Jake Plummer and Drew Lock have some real similarities in their personality,” Doc told the guys. “Kind of free spirits but very confident and also real competitors. That confidence that Lock has is really evident when you see a guy like we did where he was having so much fun last year in the games he started and he’s on the sideline and he’s singing, rapping and being totally goofy.
“But it doesn’t come off as goofy, it comes off as someone totally comfortable with themself. So you know he’s got confidence ... and you can just see it.”
After I heard that, I could totally picture Plummer rapping on the Broncos’ sideline. But I also wondered how I didn’t see the connection between Plummer and Lock sooner. In the process, it got me even more excited about Lock and what the future holds for him in Denver.
As I’ve said before, he seems like a young quarterback who gets it and has “it.” He obviously has the physical tools to succeed, but it’s the mental aspect that should excite Broncos Country. Lock seems like a sponge who wants to soak up as much as he can from as many different people as he can. We know about Peyton Manning and John Elway. Hopefully he does the same with Plummer.
Laurie wrote up the interview that Plummer did with the Broncos earlier this week, and it’s definitely worth your time.
Now I can’t get the image of Plummer rapping on the Broncos’ sideline out of my head.
