The 2015 season was a special one for the Denver Broncos. It was Peyton Manning’s last ride and he struggled mightily under the offensive system implemented under Gary Kubiak. However, the season ended up not being about that at all. The story was about the historic rise of that 2015 Broncos defensive unit.
Defensively, the Broncos would beat teams up every single game and when the games were on the line found ways to win them. No win was more impressive than their fourth quarter stand against the New England Patriots during the AFC Championship game. They followed that up by shutting down the reigning NFL MVP in Cam Newton and the leagues top ranked offense in the Super Bowl.
So when Pro Football Focus released their top ranked defenses of the decade, it came to no surprise to us fans that Denver’s 2015 squad took the top overall spot.
