On Tuesday, the Denver Broncos announced several roster transactions that brought them to the 80-player roster limit. One player was waived, one entered the opt-out list, one to the PUP, and one to the NFI list.
Waived: Rookie wide receiver Zimari Manning
Opt-Out: Nose tackle Kyle Peko
PUP: Offensive tackle Elijah Wilkinson
NFI: Rookie offensive guard Netane Muti
Manning was an undrafted rookie a few months back, but won’t get a chance to show what he can do. The COVID-19 pandemic will likely hit the undrafted rookie class the hardest.
For Kyle Peko, the decision was easy. With his wife only recently cancer-free, he will be placed on the high-risk opt-out list. It makes no sense for him to take the kinds of risk playing an NFL schedule poses in 2020.
The Broncos offense line will start training camp down a few bodies as well with Elijah Wilkinson on the PUP list and rookie Netane Muti on the non-football injury list. Both of them will still count against the Broncos 80-man roster limit.
